Make It! Superhero Costume
Nothing says imagination like a superhero costume. Superman or Wonder Woman can rock this outfit, styled and decorated just the way they like it. Let Mom and Dad put the cape together and the rest of the decorating is up to you.
NOTE: This is a project where your creativity and exploration are essential! You can cut your own shapes from fabric scraps to decorate your cape even more. Use crayons, colored pens or oil pastels to really make it your own! Use your imagination, and don’t forget the most important step: HAVE FUN!
Now go out and conquer the world! POW! ZAP! SPLAT!
MAKING YOUR SUPERHERO CAPE
WHAT YOU NEED:
• 20" x 23" Silver Fabric Rectangle
• 40" White/Black Ribbon
• Fabric Glue
LAY your silver fabric on a flat surface, with the shiny outside face down.
PLACE your white/black ribbon along a short edge of your fabric about 2" away from the edge.
RUN a line of fabric glue on the inside of your silver fabric just below the ribbon.
FOLD the fabric over the ribon, closing it in but ensuring no glue gets on the ribbon - you don't want the ribbon stuck down just yet.
ALLOW the glue to dry completely.
GATHER the fabric toward the middle of the ribbon so that it bunches slightly.
MAKE SURE there is an even amount of ribbon sticking out of both sides of the cape - this will tie the cape around your neck.
GLUE the ribbon to the fabric just inside the opening on either side of the collar - this will keep the ribbon from sliding out.
