MAKE IT! Fabric Accessories

We love encouraging the art of recycling in any form, but this time our little one did it all on her own. While trying to glam up her school outfit one day she found a pile of fabric scraps, old clothes, ribbon strips and unsorted buttons, and she decided to design some accessories for herself. A belt, a headband, a necklace, a bracelet - so many ways to wear them!

MAKE YOUR OWN FABRIC ACCESSORIES:

WHAT YOU NEED:

Ribbon
Assorted Fabrics
Buttons
Fabric Glue
Scissors

CHOOSE your favorite fabrics. We love to use left over scraps from around the house, old clothes or other recycled materials.

FIND the perfect color ribbon to use for the base of your accessory.

MEASURE your ribbon to size depending on what it will be used for - a headband, a belt, a bracelet, etc.

CUT your fabric into different sized circles. We used zigzag scissors to add effect and also help to stop fraying.

LAYER your shapes on top of one another.

GLUE your shapes together.

ADD buttons!

GLUE your material onto your ribbon using your fabric glue.

WEAR your accessory! Tie it off around your wrist, waist or head. If your ribbon is too long, wrap it around and around until it fits.
