WHAT IS DO UNTO ANIMALS?

Founder of Moomah the Magazine, Tracey Stewart, is the author of Do Unto Animals: friendly guide to how animals live, and how we can make their lives better. In addition to over 300 beautiful color illustrations by artist Lisel Ashlock, a portion of Tracey's proceeds from the book will be donated to Farm Sanctuary.

The more we know about the animals in our world and the better we care for them, the better our lives will be.  Through hundreds of charming illustrations, a few homemade projects, and her humorous, knowledgeable voice, Stewart provides insight into the secret lives of animals and the kindest ways to live with and alongside them. At home, she shows readers things like how to speak “dog-ese” and “cat-ese” and how to “virtually adopt” an animal. In the backyard, we learn about building bee houses, dealing nicely with pesky moles, and creative ways to bird-watch. And on the farm, Stewart teaches us what we can do to help all farm animals lead a better life. Part practical guide, part memoir of her life with animals, and part testament to the power of giving back, Do Unto Animals is a gift for animal lovers of all stripes.

{ QUESTIONS FOR TRACEY }

WHAT IS TRACEY'S RELATIONSHIP TO FARM SANCTUARY?

Tracey is a long-time supporter of Farm Sanctuary. She will be donating her proceeds from Do Unto Animals to them. Farm Sanctuary has been instrumental in teaching the in’s and outs of starting a farm animal sanctuary and have been an invaluable resource for her book. Tracey is partnering with Farm Sanctuary to create their New Jersey branch.

WOULD TRACEY BE INTERESTED IN RESCUING SOME ANIMALS THAT I KNOW ARE IN NEED OF HELP?

Yes... but then she would be bordering on becoming a hoarder. Tracey is already at maximum capacity of rescued animals in her own home. Her sanctuary, Bufflehead Farm, will be the New Jersey branch of Farm Sanctuary. Please click here for information about animal placement.

ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMPLOYMENT AT THE NEW JERSEY SANCTUARY?

You are welcome to write to humanresources@farmsanctuary.org and ask to be put on a list to be notified for positions when they are open. If you are looking to volunteer, you are welcome to write to volunteer@farmsanctuary.org and again ask to be put on a list.

HOW CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW JERSEY BRANCH OF FARM SANCTUARY?

WOULD TRACEY BE INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING A GREAT NEW PROJECT I’D LIKE TO START?

There are so many incredible ideas out there and so many people with kind hearts and a passion for bettering the world. It’s truly inspiring! Tracey is dedicated right now to the building of her own sanctuary, her book, her family and the many animals that are a big part of that family. There are just not enough hours in the day!

WHAT HAPPENED TO MOOMAH CAFE?

Moomah Cafe was a sanctuary for sleep-deprived parents to connect with their kids in inspiring ways. Our most enthusiastic customers were parents attempting to spend quality time with their kids, while at the same time enjoying great conversation, relaxation, inspiration, an art project or two and a great coffee in their home away from home. While the joy of providing such a place for our community was thrilling, our team spent our days huddled in the bowels of the café…vitamin-D deprived and sweating over food costs and employee management. We yearned to reach a wider audience, have more time for creative pursuits, grow back stress-related hair loss, and find a way to make more of a difference. And so Moomah’s Make Nice Mission was born, followed by Do Unto Animals and soon to culminate into the building of an animal sanctuary.

{ MOOMAH'S MAKE NICE MISSION }

WHAT IS MOOMAH'S MAKE NICE MISSION?

Parents and kids are often looking for ways to be part of their community and are searching for ways to give back. While the desire is there, the time is hard to come by. Our Make Nice Mission makes it easy by featuring great organizations and people that are truly working to make the world a better place. We aim to inspire connection between our kids and ourselves with the world around us, and invite you and your kids to join us in helping some, or one of them, with some really easy things you can do at home or in your community.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our Make Nice Mission is filled with the same great crafts, recipes, activities and informative articles that we’ve always brought you. The only difference is that the content is now inspired by non-profits we partner and work side by side with. We learn about their programs and hopefully leave a Moomahesque contribution behind. We then pass along all we've learned to you, giving you fun, easy ways to connect with each other and the world around you. We know you don’t have a lot of time and we strive to make it easy and fun.

{ REVENUE AND ADVERTISING }

DOES MOOMAH MAKE MONEY?

We allow sponsored articles as part of our Make Nice Mission, however no money received from these partnerships goes to Moomah. Instead, a company that asks to sponsor an article as part of our Make Nice Mission is asked to donate to the non-profit we are partnering with. Moomah itself does not make a financial profit from these sponsors.

We believe in full disclosure. If an article has been sponsored or paid for, we are sure to make it very clear to our readers and indicate where the money is going.

HOW CAN I SPONSOR AN ARTICLE?

If we love your company and products, and believe that your mission is in line with us and our featured non-profit, then we would love to discuss the ways in which you can sponsor an article. We strive to raise awareness and funds for the organizations that we feature and if you agree to make a donation to them, then we are happy to share our page with you!

Please contact us@moomah.com for more information on how to sponsor an article.

DO YOU RECEIVE ANY OTHER SOURCES OF REVENUE?

Moomah is an Amazon Affiliate. We like to include links to products, equipment, and books that we mention in our articles, making them easier for our readers to access. The link to the product does allow us to receive a small commission on sales linked to our site... so hey, why not? This small amount is collected and put towards the costs of running the magazine.

No linked item is influenced by advertisers unless specifically noted. The links are simply items we use to make our art projects and that we suggest to others who may be looking to do the same.
